About Me

My name is Cindy Christy and I am so thrilled that you have taken the time to look at the SONflower International Ministry website. I would like to share with you a little about myself. Well, how about I go back a few years and move forward. I came to faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior in January of 1980, oh, what a marvelous day! I remember it just like it was yesterday. I went down on my knees a sinner and came up a saint, all because of Jesus and what He purchased for me on the cross of Calvary. At the time my husband and I had two young sons and we were living in Central Florida. I was immediately encouraged to join a Bible study, so I did. I surrounded myself with godly women and joined a Bible believing church. Probably in the first 2 or 3 years I was invited to attend a Precept Upon Precept Bible study. My first teacher, Barbara Christy, taught me how to study the Bible by using The Inductive Bible Study Method and within a few months I was attending Leadership Training so that I could teach others to study the Bible using this method. Over the following 27 years, I raised our children in the faith, adopted a daughter and grew in my walk with Christ as I taught the Scriptures weekly.

So I know you are thinking, then why SONflower International Ministry? Well, in March of 2006, I found myself alone after being married almost 30 years. My hearts desire was to be reconciled but over a period of months it was evident that this was not going to happen and the Lord prompted me to, Genesis 12:1 "Go to the land that I will show you." At the time I was not exactly sure what "Go" meant. Was I to sell my home? Where was I to go? Well, in February of 2007 I went on my very first missions trip and the answer was soon to come. I traveled to the Ukraine and accompanied a group from my home church, First Baptist Church of Mount Dora. My ministry was to women, I would be leading a Bible Study Conference and the title of my conference was "Lord Heal My Hurts." I had such a wonderful time. When I returned home from the Ukraine, as I was spending time with the Lord one morning, the answer to the "Go" came. I was reading from Isaiah 6, where the Lord says to Isaiah, " Whom shall We send, who shall go for Us? ", Isaiah said, "Here am I Lord, send me". At that very moment I felt as if the Lord was calling me to surrender full time to the mission field. So, wherever He would lead I was ready to go.
The Lord has shown me that I am the apple of His eye and He is the Lover of my soul, He will never leave me nor forsake me. So from the night that my husband left, I was able to pray , "Father, thank You for this gift". How in the world could I do that? Because I had grown to know my Heavenly Father and He said through the Apostle Paul in Philippians, "It has not only been granted to you to believe but to also suffer for His sake."
So He had granted or gifted me this time of suffering and I know that He will continue to work it for good as I travel the world and share with the masses that His grace is sufficient for me and will be for them. I love to tell the story of His amazing grace, to large groups or one on one, to young children or the elderly. Whatever the need and wherever the place I am willing to go.
Since this ministry has started I have found and married an amazing man named Lee Christy. He and I are now working together to preach the gospel around the world wherever the Lord may call us to.
So why Sonflower International Ministry? I think you know, I love the sunflower and it makes me smile, but more importantly I love the Son. He has put a smile on my face and a song in my heart. God Bless you ~ Cindy
