It is now 5:46 a.m. on Thursday morning and the 100 or so roosters and numerous barking dogs woke me up. Actually the roosters some how think it is more all the time. I almost feel like they are competing with one another!
Yesterday was packed full of much ministry. I am sure by the title you are wondering, What ministry?
Well, the day of course began with a lovely breakfast of Rice, as always, Vienna sausage, some sliced turkey spam and I think some sliced cheese. No fish heads for this meal!
Then Olive and I worked on the Open Door web site for 3 hours. We when Amanda, my daughter, and I set it up back at home we were limited with children's! ages, pictures and exactly what they might want. So we had so much fun, tweeking it!
Then a light lunch and off to the store to buy school supplies for the children in Bicol, notebooks, pens, pencils and loose sheets of paper. I think I spent about $40.00 and have enough for over 100 children.
I had mentioned earlier to Nenette that my back was hurting me a bit and did she know of someone who could do a massage? She said, Yes and after dinner a lady would come. So I took a short nap. Upon waking up she was here, I felt terrible that she had to wait on me but they were not about to wait me up., Man what a massage! And as I laid on my bed she wanted to talk and of course even though I was trying to control my groans from the deep massage I was receiving I began to witness to her. She told me that she is Catholic but her husband is Born Again and has backslidden! Interesting! I was sure to share the pure Gospel with her and gave her a Bible that I bought while out today and a Daily Bread, both in her language. Afterwards we had supper and then I paid for Nenette to have a massage and shared with her husband and found out what his wife said he had backslid. He was born again in the 80's and was active in a church and became the Assoc. Pastor and was suppose to become the pastor but was passed by because someone in the church wanted someone else, a friend, and not him. So now for 8 years he has not gone to church and is bitter. Am, I boring you? I hope not! I shared with him that it is bitterness and anger and disappointment that have kept him away and he admitted that it is a fear of being hurt again that has kept him away as well. We had a wonderful visit and one of the other ladies from Open Door was with us on the porch as we spoke, she helped in the translation!! We prayed with him and he seemed encouraged. It is interesting how the people here listen to me, I think because I have come as a missionary from so far way, that they believe what I have to share is Gospel and listen more intently. Even though back at home I still share the same message, but of course the Lord is giving me these divine appointments.
Then the evening was ended by watching Fireproof with the youth and children. I usually watch a movie with the girls but one of them said, Ate Cindy, how about the children as well, I said, sure! It was so much fun watching their faces and listening to them laugh and scream at the train seen and the house fire seen but the most beautiful thing was watching their eye's at the end and seeing tears flow down their faces. At 10:30 we ended the evening with prayer and off to bed.
Oh yes, I also had a manicure while I watched the move by one of the ladies here who does it for extra money, I think I paid her $4.00. This is a rough life on the mission field, massages and manicures!!!!!
Lastly concerning Ika? She did come to the retreat and stayed on the first nght and left after devotion in the morning. Our room read our devotion together and had prayer and everyone shared what was on their hearts. I was so impressed that Ika and Chuckies mom both shared. The Lord is clearly at work and I am very encouraged. When we did stand up to pray, I said, who would like to pray and there was a delay and then Ika said, I will pray!!!!!! And all of the girls said, ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! And we were so proud of her. Is she there yet? I am not sure but this I know, she is on the way!!!!!
Thanks again for wanting to hear from me while I am here and all that the Lord is doing as I am obedient to tell the Story of Jesus! I pray you are able to see in your minds eye some of what is being accomplished because of your obedience to give.
I love you all very much,
