A week ago we were waiting with anticipation for our trip to Comitancillo Guatemala to minister to women and children and then of course upon arriving on Monday the plan was brought to a screeching halt because the country had suffered many mudslides! You know the story, you have been receiving updates everyday. But what our team did not know ahead of time was that God had a different mission for us. We would still minister to women and children but we would stay in the city!
We have an occupational therapist on the team and she was able to teach our first family how to do therapy for Martin to strengthen his upper body and another little boy named Vincent who is 7 years old and just learning to walk. He has a leg in which his foot turns out and he sort of drags it. She shared with the workers at the school how they could help him by feeting him with a brace.
We have a women with us who had hoped to meet with some Jews from Central America to help complete a documentary about the return of the Jews to the Holy Land. This is the last place for her to document. Tuesday as she was walking in the lobby, in the door walked a Jewish family who had come here to the city for the Jewish New Year! She met with them and made arrangements to come back to Guatemala again and document here final work.
Today we went to a Christian School and Jodi, who works as a band director in the states, was leading our team ministry to the children and in walks a full band and the children played two beautiful christian songs for us! It was so neat!
Tonight we met with wives of seminary students here in Guatemala City. We prepared a lovely Tea for them but we used Hot Chocolate instead and fed them wonderful muffins, papaya, pineapple and watermelon! We wanted to encourage them as many of the ladies have been there for years while their husbands study for the ministry and I am sure it gets lonely away from family and friends. I shared my testimony and challenged them in the study of the Word of God and sang. Carlene and Paula and Jenn all shared a word of testimony as well.
One dear women shared that through the testimony I shared she was encouraged to finish her course well! She has been here at the Seminary for 4 years and has the encouragement now to press on to completion!
Thanks again for listening and praying and loving His work!
