Oh my goodness, it has been raining all week long!!!! It seems to want to pour at night and just have on and off showers during the day. Maybe that is why this is called the rainy season?
Today was Pastor Pio and Nenette's daughter Dannah's Birthday so we went out tonight to Pizza Hut, yes, they have Pizza Hut here in the Philippines! So when we returned the children were waiting for Ate Cindy to have devotion with them. Since they started back to school this morning we had said we would meet in the evening but I didn't think it would be at 9:15 but they were all waiting and little by little they came down the stairs with their brand new Bibles and Daily Bread Devotionals, boys and girls. I have attached a picture. I bought 5 more Bibles today and I think I am still short 2, and that should take care of everyone who did not have one. They are so sweet to watch reading and it takes us about as much time for each of them to find the book in the Bible that is our text as it does to read the Devotion! But it is such a thrill!
A few of the girls had a laughing attack and yet the boys kept on reading.
Earlier in the day Carl, Grace Joewelon and I took a tricycle to the site of the final Concert on the 5th to canvas the neighborhood with fliers for the event. The Lord was so kind to stop the rain but the mud was quite messy. Carl and I went in one direction and Grace and Joewelon the other and we met back an hour later. As Carl and I went from house to house he kept saying Ate I am sorry I brought you out in this. I said, Honey, don't worry this is the Mission Field! I had worn flip flops because I didn't want to get my sneakers covered in mud and I knew I could wash my feet and flip flops later. Well, at one point I felt mud on the back of my legs that wasn't' mud, we had passed a home with a few geese and that is what it looked like!! One home that we approached Carl said, Ate Cindy back away quickly I know this lady, she is not well. I am like in the head??? Yes, he said, she one time threw rocks at us!!! So as we walked to the next house he was so dear to tell me to stand on his other side because the lady was following us. No harm came and truth be known she has probably been abused and become ill mentally because of it. I wish you could see the way these people live!! So very sad, this one little girl was just getting home from school and her parents where in this home made of bamboo and cardboard and palm branches and they were both drunk. I noticed written on the outside of the home it said, Don't Smoke in the house, it was in a child's handwriting and the mother was smoking in the house. The children go to school and then come home to take care of their parents many times. Tragic but this is their life. So grateful that we are offering an invitation to the whole neighborhood to a free Evangelist Concert on Saturday. It makes sense that it would be free because what He has done for us was free!!!! It cost Him everything but by faith we receive the free gift!! Thank You Father, love you all, Cindy
