My son Brooks preached a message a few years ago called, "Empty Plus Jesus Equals Full and I stole it today for the Open Door Christian Academy Chapel Service.
I of course was not as animated as my son so I asked Chuckie to help out with the props! The message is about how we try to fill our lives with things to fill the void in
our hearts that only the Lord can fill. We fill our lives with an education, a car/or truck, a companion, cool shades/and bulky jewelry(blang!), new gadgets,careers/money, cell phone, religion,
addictions, and maybe even children. Chuckie put all of these things in an empty pitcher one at time and there is no satisfaction found and then we took a pitcher of water colored with red food
coloring to represent asking the Lord to fill us up with Himself to satisfy our thirst and our hunger spiritually. I used John 4, the Samaritan Woman at the well, and how Christ offers Himself as that Livng Water that when we drink we will never thirst again. And then we find, you know may lose a companion, or your child moves away and the gadgets aren't cutting it and you find you don't need the drugs etc etc etc. And the pitcher is still full of Christ and as He fills us up, He spills over on all those around us. The young people were engaged the whole time and I asked Chuckie if he wanted to give an invitation and he became very emotional so he gave me the microphone back and I gave an invitation and Jeffrey the Assoc. Pastor prayed and 39 young people gave their hearts to Christ. We were overwhelmed at the hand of God and how He worked in their hearts.
I will sleep well tonight as I rejoice in His all that He has done. Their may be a revival going on in this school!!!!!!
Love you all, Cindy
