What a whirlwind few days.
As I shared we arrived safely yesterday afternoon and Miriam and Samuel met us and took us to a wonderful restaurant where we ate way too much. Steak, sausage, chicken, black beans, guacamole, tortillas, soup and this wonderful green sauce for the meat called chimichurri!!! It was fabulous, needless to say we did not eat dinner last night. Adan, Samuel,
Melina, Zuly, Miriam, Lynne and I sat down to watch a DVD that I brought from the states by Louie Giglio. The children had invited some friend over to watch with us, Symphony!! I am not sure if you have seen this video or not but Louie shares how all creation is singing praises to the Lord. Stars, whales, the wind, the birds, the bugs and us! It is a powerful message and we had a very special time of worship together. By the end of the evening we were all sitting with our hands raised in the air with tears flowing down our cheeks. It was such a powerful time of fellowship and worship of our Precious Father and Lord Jesus Christ.
This morning we were up early to head to the church and then we got in an old school bus to Antigua. There are 50 ladies attending the retreat. We are staying at a nice old Spanish hotel called, The Fountains. This morning during our first session I was asked to sing and I shared a short testimony. I will be speaking in the morning at 10:00. It has been delightful getting to know the lovely ladies who are attending. I would like to share with you about one of them.
Meet Olga: Last August Olga a mother of 4 adult children was at home and the next to the oldest son was in the garage working on her car. There was a group of men who came into the neighborhood chasing a man attempting to kill him and when he saw that Olga's garage door was open he darted in. The men began to shoot guns into the garage and one bullet hit her car and ricocheted straight into her sons heart. He died within two minutes. The man who was hiding was hit 20 times and lived 5 hours. Olga wept as she shared this very sad story of her loss with us and she continues to run to the Lord daily for His healing touch! But listen to the Lord's amazing grace, earlier that day, her son had asked her...." Mom, does everyone who dies go to heaven?" She said, "No my son, only those who have put their faith and trust in Christ Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins and salvation will go to heaven." He then prayed with her to receive the gift of salvation by faith. EARLIER THAT DAY, THE DAY HE WOULD BE SHOT AND KILLED IN HIS OWN GARAGE. GOD ALMIGHTY PREPARED HIM FOR ETERNITY!!!!!! What a comfort this is for this dear mother, although the loss is great and she misses him terribly, she knows that he has not looked back.
AMAZING GRACE HOW SWEET THE SOUND !
I love you all, Cindy
