We just returned from visiting an Orphanage near Antigua. The home is run by a husband and wife, the husband being American and wife Guatemalan. They have two of their own sons and then 6 other children that they have taken in to care for that the government has placed in their homes. They had 5 boys and 1 little girl, what a dear. The husband, Sean, says that he felt the Lord call him when he was on 17 years old to do what he is doing right now. He believes the Lord has called him to be a father to the fatherless. I will share with you one story. One of the little boys who has already been adopted out was called affectionately " Wheezer", because he had been tied up in a plastic bag and placed in a trash dumpster when he was only a few days old. After being rescued he was placed in their home, " The Great Commission " children's home, and he would always wheeze when he was drinking his bottle!!! Hence Wheezer! We prayed with Sean and Glendy McDanils and played with the children we had many laughs and tears and embraces.
Oh yes, remember this was Plan B? One of our girls is an occupational therapist and one of the boys is can only see 6 ft away and is almost all deaf and he has many physical handicaps. Cindy was teaching Glendy how to do therapy to strengthen his upper body!! They had been given a wonderful chair to hold him but he had never been fitted for it, Cindy was able to do that, Glendy was so blessed. I guess it was not by accident that we did not go to Comi!!!!!!!!!
Love you all, The schedule is filling up and we will drive 3 hours tomorrow to minister at another larger orphanage.
I will keep you updated.
